The Skinny on Skin Health

Your skin is as unique as you and feels and appears different depending on your day.

It is a living organ and whatever you do on the inside is as important as what you do on the outside.

Are you aware that the skin is the only organ that shows itself to us? And with that it invites you to communicate with it and to your body.

Tune in and take the time to consider how well your whole body carries you through your unique life and how by looking at your skin, touching and feeling with it you can communicate deeply with your body and its state of health.

The skin itself can tell us how it

feels -  too dry, too tight, just wonderful, etc.-  and

in which state it is -  relaxed, plump and hydrated, stressed and red, dry, undernourished, etc.

Thus, it is easy for you to address its needs from the

outside with healthy nourishing skin care, improving your environmental exposure as well as from the

inside with a good diet, plenty hydration and exercise to increase its circulation and detoxification.

What influences skin health?

Your skin works 24 hours a day. It helps your body to breathe and to detox.

Environmental conditions greatly influence the needs of your skin. Just think about

  • Weather
  • Seasons
  • Smoking
  • Work & living conditions, etc.
  • Sugar
  • Alcohol
  • Diet
  • Medications

Night is the time when skin repairs itself, thus like a workplace, set your surroundings up well/properly.

Allow for plenty of hydration and sleep time, enjoy a clean diet, especially in the evening.

Air the bedroom out once a day and set its temperature around 65 degree F.

Ensure clean linens and beddings that the allow the skin to breathe aide a good night of sleep and recuperation as well.

Cleanse the skin thoroughly, tone and apply nourishing moisturizer to restore skin well over night.

Hours of daylight and activity challenge the skin to work hard, thus protect and hydrate it well.

Cleanse the skin in the morning, tone and moisturize well, keeping the days activities in mind.

Hydrate skin regularly during the day with a high quality toner to resupply hydration and support for your skin.

Protect your skin from glaring sun exposure by using a sunscreen moisturizer and minimizing the exposure of skin by wearing covering clothing and staying in the shade as much as possible.

Eat a clean and light diet and ensure to drink plenty of water.
