Our Environmental Barrier Lip Balm was no exception. When we created this now-best-selling product, we set out to formulate the ideal lip balm—the only lip balm you’ll ever need to buy. We started by lining up all of the lip balms we were producing. We each had a pile in front of us—Kettle Care® products and competitors’. Each lip balm had its own advantages, and the variety was overwhelming. 

So we asked ourselves: “What if you could only carry one?

We started the formula with a botanical oil infusion of soothing Chamomile, Calendula, Comfrey, and Lemonbalm—the perfect combination of natural, hydrating ingredients to heal shredded lips. We added Jojoba, Coconut, and Avocado oils—ingredients sure to make your lips make a sigh of relief.

Then we considered the health benefits we wanted. We added Neem to fend off bacterial infections, Melissa to guard against viral issues, Lysine to prevent cold sores, and Zinc to protect your lips from the sun and wind. 

But something was still missing. A flavor? A scent? Then it hit us: Peppermint oil—the perfect final ingredient. Peppermint stimulates your lips’ circulation and draws the balm deeper into the skin to keep your lips feeling hydrated all day long. 

Voila—the perfect lip balm was born!
