Reminder to slow down! Our favorite self-care rituals.
As the back to school season approaches, you can't help but feel thankful yet also completely lost in the chaos. You have three different lists of Back To School Essentials you need to get and of course you let it slip your brain. You're running around like crazy trying to find tissues for the classroom and praying you will spot the last box of pencils left.
We've been there! And we want to invite you to take a moment to pause, rewire your brain and get excited for some much needed 'you' time.
Here are a few of my favorite self care rituals to find some calm.
Soak and sip

One of my favorite ways of slowing down is pouring a bath. Simple, yet underrated.
Let me set the scene. You get the bath going, pour yourself some rose' because you deserve it. Maybe a cup of tea, coffee, whatever suits your fancy. You add soap to create some bubbles. Add in your favorite mineral salt bath. I've been using our Slumber Mineral Salt Bath - it is one of my personal favorites! And for some final touches you light your favorite candle, grab your favorite book, and its officially 'you' time.
Now you get to slouch down and live in that water like your mermaid dreams are finally coming true. No deadlines, no responsibilities, just you, your book and the soft scent of your candle. If you want to feel extra luxurious, finish off the bath with a body polish which will make you feeling invigorated and smelling wonderful.
The one I cannot live without is our Spring Body Polish. Mixed with our Floral Solstice Body Lotion it is my holy-grail duo. It exfoliates the skin while locking in moisture and although I'm an esthetician and I take my skincare routine pretty seriously, I can shamelessly say I slack on the body care and this routine helps my dry skin tremendously.
It's time for a facial

If soaks are not your thing don't worry I have another recommendation.
As an esthetician this is a core part of my everyday routine. Not just to keep my skin clean but more as a moment to slow down and take time to focus on myself. This intention makes your skincare routine less of a chore and more of a time to nourish and rejuvenate your energies.
I know that not everyone has a comprehensive skin care routine but there are easy ways to make it feel a bit more lavish.
Start with mild to warm water and wet your face - just enough to add product to it and open your pores. Then apply a cleanser. I use our Lavender Cleansing Gel. If you need to remove makeup, I suggest double cleansing - be gentle with yourself and take your time to let the product work for you.
Before I close my pores I want to exfoliate to remove any dead skin buildup that could result in a black head and clog the pores. I do this by adding an exfoliant. I tend to use our Microdermabrasion Scrub and apply it as I would a masque. I leave it on for 1 minute then gently remove with some water working the product on top of the skin in a slight circular motion.
Now it's time to close those pores. There is a couple ways of going about this. One is splashing your face with cold water. Second, is using a toner. I love a good toner. I use the Rejuvenating Rose Toner and the scent is so calming and a favorite step in my routine. That toner also includes Hyaluronic Acid which is a staple ingredient for retaining moisture in the skin barrier. To finish off my skincare routine I like to add two different moisturizers. I go in first applying our Calendula Moisturizer and then I add a little bit of our Balancing Lavender Creme for an extra hydration boost. When applying the moisturizer I invite you to slow down again and give yourself a light facial massage, work the temples, go down the jaw line. And lastly finish up your routine with some eye creme and an application of your favorite lip balm.
And if you are doing this before bed time something I like to do, just to feel extra lavish before hitting my pillow, is to put a bit of my favorite perfume on. Just a mild sprits. I'm telling you it makes you feel like royalty.
I hope these recommendations help to remind yourself to ritualize the little things, take time to slow down, and give yourself a little extra self love. It is essential as it nourishes you which then helps to nourish others.
