Super Cold Weather Skincare Tips

What a week we've had in Montana! First a winter storm with total whiteout conditions, followed by five days of subzero temperatures! And then today? Over a foot of snow, with days more to follow! But this does not not stop us here at Kettle Care. We still come out to make sure we are blending the most effective skincare we can! So, this is what we look like when we leave the house. Yes, it may look ridiculous, but we choose to protect our skin at all costs!

Super Cold Weather Skincare Tips

Your skin is sensitive to extremes. Being outside at subzero temps for just a small amount of time can break small blood vessels permanently and give painful frost damage. That's why it is so important to apply a thick moisturizer and you need to cover up! Scarfs, baklavas, hats, gloves and waterproof shoes are all a must. Cover your skin even if you are just running to the mailbox.

Don't stay out for too long! Take shifts shoveling snow. No more than 10-15 minutes. (Maybe less if it's really windy or if temps are really low like our -40 degree weather!)

Go inside and get dry. Take off wet clothing and replace with dry. Let your skin warm up naturally. (No running your hands under hot water). Once skin has come back up to temp apply a thick layer of moisturizer and a good lip balm. This will help the skin to start to repair any damage the weather condition has done. And remember to also moisturize the little areas like the tips of your ears, fingers, neck and nose.
